Lake schools see another week-over-week COVID case drop, mirroring local trend

LEESBURG — Another 210 Lake County students and 28 staffers tested positive for the coronavirus during the sixth week of school, according to the Lake County Schools COVID-19 dashboard.

Meanwhile 1,184 students and 11 staffers are quarantined.

The case count marks another week-over-week drop in COVID-19 cases in the schools. And despite the new cases, not one school has a positivity rate of 5% or higher.

During week 5,286 students and 57 staff members tested positive for the virus. The week prior, 60 students and 160 staff members tested positive.

The number of COVID-19 cases and related hospitalizations continue to drop in Lake and Sumter counties after the recent surge of the Delta variant.
