Steelers at Chiefs spread, odds, picks, trends expert predictions: Travis Kelce out for NFL Week 16 game

Kansas City tightened its grip on the AFC West and jumped into first place in the conference last week after a 34-28 overtime win over Los Angeles. The Chiefs opened up a 10-point lead early but needed two game-tying drives out of Patrick Mahomes to force overtime before Travis Kelce won it for KC with a 34-yard catch-and-run. Mahomes finished with 410 yards, three touchdowns and an interception while Kelce and Tyreek Hill combined for 22 catches, 339 yards and all three scores. The Chargers’ 428 yards were the most Kansas City has allowed in over two months, but the defense did have multiple takeaways for the sixth consecutive game. The Chiefs don’t play a team currently below .500 the rest of the regular season. But oddsmakers like them to keep up their winning ways. Kansas City has covered the spread five weeks in a row and opened as 10.5-point favorites against Pittsburgh.

It’s almost confusing how the Steelers continue to find ways to win. At 7-6-1, they’re still hanging around the playoff picture. Last week, the Steelers beat the Titans 19-13 in a game that Pittsburgh finished with 168 total yards. Sure, the defense forced four turnovers, but Pittsburgh only turned those takeaways into 12 points and the defense also gave up 201 rushing yards to a tandem of D’Onta Foreman and Dontrell Hilliard. The Steelers have been gashed on the ground in six of the past seven weeks. While Kansas City isn’t known for its ground game, Pittsburgh’s inability to score consistently is a good enough reason to fade the Steelers. Even if they’re playing must-win games the rest of the way. Odds, Over/Under, Moneyline
